What is social work?
Social work is a discipline that includes a vast array of supports for a wide variety of people. Some common places where you might meet a social worker are in hospitals, child protection, addiction and homeless shelters, counseling and therapy, and many more.
While the discipline or focus often shifts, the purpose of social workers is to work with individuals, couples, families and groups to meet the goals and objectives that they are working towards.
The purpose of social work at Nurturing Behaviours Inc. is to provide children, youth, caregivers, and families an additional layer of support whether that be through counseling sessions, caregiver support, or multidisciplinary support for your child.
Felicity Dyck
Felicity is a registered social worker with both a Masters and Bachelors of Social Work (MSW and BSW) degree, specializing in working with children and families. With a deep-rooted passion for supporting the well-being of children and strengthening family systems, she is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.
Philosophy of Practice
Felicity believes that each person will have a different therapeutic journey that includes different goals and strategies. She works from a client-centered and strengths-based approach pulling from a range of modalities such as CBT, ACT, play and somatic therapy. Felicity appreciates working with children and youth within a therapeutic space because of their unique perspective on the world that often brings pause to her own worldview.
As a social worker, Felicity also gets the privilege of working with and alongside parents and caregivers. She understands that accessing community resources, navigating funding packages, and seeking out personal wellness can be challenging when parenting. Felicity believes that parents/caregivers are genuinely doing their best, and sometimes you need a little support!

Parent Support
Often times being a parent/caregiver is a full-time job. Let me help you access community events and resources, apply for funding packages, tap into respite services, access mental health and other parent supports; or simply lend a listening ear!
Multidisciplinary Support
If your child or youth has an care team (including BCBA, EA, teacher, etc.) it may be helpful that we work together to share strategies to better assist your child or youth in various learning and living environments.
